Knitting Tip: How to Match Cast On & Bind Off Edges

Try to Achieve Consistent Tension

We knitters strive for consistent stitch tension, but does your cast-on and bind-off tension match too? Ummm . . . maybe not always. Typically, it is the bound-off stitches that can be much tighter and sometimes even pucker. You could loosen up your tension of course, but you may just want to try this easy tip!

EASY TIP: Choose a Larger Size Needle!

  • Bind-off using a larger needle. Usually 2 sizes up from the project needle will do the trick.

  • Experiment with progressively larger sizes until you get a match. I've even bound-off lace with as large as a Size 50 needle.

Try this on your next bind-off. You'll love the results . . . I promise!

Happy Knitting!
