Loom Knitting Blankets Guide + 10 Pattern Ideas

Can you make a blanket with a knitting loom?

Many people think knitting looms are only large enough to knit a scarf.

However, you may be surprised to learn that looms are much more versatile than simply scarf knitting. You can knit hats, baby items, fingerless mitts, home accessories, slippers, and even blankets and afghans with a knitting loom.

In this post, you’ll learn how to make blankets with a knitting loom including the 10 best loom knitting blanket patterns for beginners. I’ve also included links to recommended yarns as well as the best looms to use for each project.

The projects below include big blankets, easy long loom blankets, round loom blankets, and even a 10 stitch blanket!

Can you knit a blanket on a round loom?

You can even knit a blanket using a round loom. Instead of knitting around and around to form a tube, you’ll knit to a certain point then turn the crank the other direction and work the other way.

By doing this, you will create flat panels of fabric which you can piece together to form a blanket. In fact, project #1 featured below, uses this technique!
