#4. Tea Mitten Free Knitting Pattern
The tea cozy has enjoyed a healthy relationship with knitting for generations.
The ribbing and negative ease holds the fabric snugly against the side of the teapot, and a little button flap keeps the whole thing secured. The lid remains uncovered for easy tea-making access, and the “thumb” gusset for the spout—the key to this mitten-inspired cozy—ensures that the tea isn’t rudely frozen on the way out.
Due to the fitted nature of this pattern, my numbers are not likely to be perfect for all teapots. Indeed, one could make this out of just about any yarn, and get a completely different effect!

#5. Cabled Tea Cozy and Cafetière Free Knitting Pattern
These patterns were written to help improving knitters to knit cables. It includes two basic cables twisting right and left. If you can knit a rib pattern you can easily learn to move on to knitting cables. These are also good patterns for more experienced knitters to try out the no cable needle technique. The patterns for both the cafetière and tea cosy are included in this pdf. There are written instructions and charted instructions for each design.
There is also a photo tutorial (PDF) of the cable techniques used in this pattern: 4 stitch cables (C4B and C4F) with and without a cable needle.

#10. Spotted Daphne Tea Cozy Free Knitting Pattern
This sweet and colorful tea cozy pattern uses small amounts of left over worsted weight yarn to create a charming, lined topper that really keeps tea hot. And what fun to knit! Stripes, dots and cheerful fields of bright shiny shades make for a joyful summer knit you can enjoy all year long.
Spotted Daphne employs some pretty exciting techniques, too. She’s knit from the bottom up, both flat and in the round, using stranded knitting to make the dots. Then the top is shaped in cheery stripes and crowned with an I-cord loop. Inside, you’ll create the bright lining by picking up stitches and knitting upward. You’ll finish by joining the lining to the shell with a nifty 3-Needle Bind Off. So throw some happy skeins into a bag and cast on a great summer knit!
Spotted Daphne fits a 6-cup globe style teapot.
