How to Knit the Diagonal Ridge Stitch

This easy-to-make beginner pattern is created using only knit and purl stitches! It's a four-row repeat pattern that uses a multiple of 4 stitches.

It’s a highly textured stitch pattern that looks good on either side. On the Front, you’ll see a diagonal ridge. On the Back, those ridges become indentations.

I'll take you step-by-step through all the rows to create this pattern.

Use it to knit baby blankets, scarves, shawls, cowls, washcloths, and more.

NOTE: In the video, there is an error on the pattern screenshot, ROW 3 should read: K3, *p1, k3. Repeat from * across to last 3 sts. P1, k2. DOWNLOAD the free PDF pattern below for the corrected version.
