10 Pretty Lace Sweater Knitting Patterns
Think you can’t knit lace? You can!
Lace isn’t much more than combinations of yarn overs increases and knit2together decreases. They are worked in sequences to create eyelets (holes) in really interesting patterns.
I’ve rounded up 10 pretty lace sweater patterns for you to knit but if you still aren’t sure about lace knitting - read this post, you CAN knit lace! And you can try knitting lace with this easy lace swatch pattern.
Some of the sweaters in this post feature lace panels, others lace columns, and even all-over lace patterns. I’ve included both cardigans and pullovers so I hope find a project (or a bunch of them) you want to cast on now.

#1. Ooh La La Lace Tee Knitting Pattern
Ooh la la is worked seamlessly from the top down. The back is worked in plain Stockinette stitch while the front features a lace pattern panel at the center. Knitting starts with the cast on of the shoulders for the back. Once the short row shaped shoulder slope is done, the back is worked flat to underarm.
Shoulder stitches are picked up to work the front to the same length. At underarm both front and back are joined to work the body top down in rounds to the bottom hem. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the arm openings to work the sleeves, top down in rounds. Neck finishing is worked last.

#3. Ripple Lake Cardigan Knitting Pattern
Ripple Lake is a gorgeous cardigan adorned with the most beautiful textured lace patterns.
It has an open front and short sleeves, which make it perfect for transitioning into Spring or into Autumn. The front is slightly shorter than the back, for a modern and flattering fit. It’s the perfect cardigan to wear over dresses, blouses and skirts… and also (of course) a plain t-shirt and jeans.
The construction is worked in two halves (left and right) that grow sideways and meet at the center back creating a stunning box pleat.
There are also schematics throughout the pattern to help you identify which part you are working on.

#4. Woven Shadows Lace Tee Knitting Pattern
This is the second design in the Shadows series. For this version, there are a few sleeve choices: sleeveless, T style sleeves and 3/4 sleeves. There is no neck shaping so it is easier to adjust the neck width to your preference.
The body stitch pattern includes an eyelet mesh along one edge for the neckline, a stockinette stitch pattern in the center, and woven lace along the other edge for the hem. A stitch marker helps create the line of moving woven lace.

#5. Ruby Tuesday Lace Pullover Knitting Pattern
This drop-shouldered beauty is worked seamlessly from the top-down with a strand of fingering weight yarn and mohair-silk lace held together throughout.
The stunning lace pattern is initially worked flat on both the front and back until you reach the underarm and join in the round. A simple lace pattern is inserted at the sides for ease in knitting and allowing you some wiggle room to add shaping if you prefer (the pattern as written has no waist or hip shaping—the lace tends to drop and hug your curves on its own, but you can add shaping at the sides if you wish)).
Three-quarter sleeves are worked by picking up sts around the armscye and working to the cuff.
The lace pattern requires just a handful of lace patterning on WS rows for the time you are working flat—No worries! There are line-by-line directions for the lace whether you work flat or in the round in addition to the charts. Just take your time with them, and before you know it, you’ll be working in the round where it’s easy peasy.

For the front finishing, stitches are picked up along both fronts and small front bands are worked. Then stitches for the neckband are picked up and a neck band is worked.
