10 Boxy Sweater Knitting Patterns
I’ve been really into boxy tops lately. Maybe because I’m home ALL THE TIME and comfort has taken top priority. Boxy tops look great over leggings, jeans, pencil skirts, dresses, and loose flowy pants.
I’ve sewn a few boxy tops using linen fabric and that got me thinking, I’d love to have a knitted version of these tops.
Well, after doing a little digging on the inter webs, I discovered there are lots of boxy sweater knitting options available. I’m starting with the Temperature Tee (see #2, below), take a look and let me know in the comments below which boxy top you’ll be knitting.
Bonus! There are four FREE Patterns in this post: #2, 4, 7, and 8.
Before you check out the boxy sweaters, you may also be interested in these sweater posts as well.

#1. Boxy Sweater Knitting Pattern
Boxy is a very simple modern sweater, with a very wide body and skinny sleeves. Worked with a lightweight yarn it is very flattering, drapey and stylish!
A little short row section in the shoulders adds an interesting texture to the sleeves.
Directions are given to make a seamless version (worked in the round) or a seamed version (worked back and forth) of the body. The sleeves and the neckband are worked seamlessly in the round in both versions.

#3. Aldous Sweater Knitting Pattern
Aldous is worked seamlessly in rounds from the top down.First some short rows are worked back and forth to shape the neck. The yoke is shaped by using a modified version of the contiguous set-in sleeves method developed by Susie Myers. When the yoke shaping is complete, the sleeve stitches are placed on hold and the underarm stitches are cast on using your preferred method.
From this point the body is worked in rounds to the hem, where a single-color Twisted Braid highlights the start of the ribbing. The sleeve stitches are picked up again to work them in rounds top down, using the same Twisted Braid to highlight the cuffs. No finishing required.

#5. Boxy Chevrons Sweater Knitting Pattern
A boxy sweater is such a wardrobe staple, you can’t ever have enough!
Boxy Chevrons features skinny three-quarter length sleeves that are worked flat from neck to cuff in a large chevron pattern with gradient textural stripes.
Chose between sleeves with a straight cuff (pictured in the gray sample) using short-rows or with a diagonal/chevron finish (pictured in the pink sample).
The extra wide body with a large v-neck is then picked up from the sleeves and knit down in the round. Short-Row shaping gives this lightweight sweater a flattering drape.
The sweater is slightly longer in the back and ends in a diagonally ribbed hem.
